Generator Specialists - Siemens AG - Dammam

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
    Direct, train, and coordinate Specialists and casual employees in the performance of Project Services orders on Combustion Turbine equipment and other mechanical/electrical service projects.
    Identify, select and assign the Project Services workforce to job orders based on individual's qualifications, expertise and skill.
    Evaluate individual and team job performance.
    Prepare written reports to Project Services management and engineers concerning procedures, equipment, personnel and order implementation.

In addition to the duties of Specialist A, performs the following:

    Direct and coordinate the activities of Specialists and support employees assigned on shift to meet safety, schedule, budget, and quality objectives of the project.
    Identify, select and assign Specialists and support employees to jobs based on the employee's level of qualification, skill, and attitude.
    Communicate to each employee assigned to shift, the full scope of work, the individual's assignment, expectations and requirements, identify team roles and orchestrate effective team interactions among the individuals assigned.
    Assume responsibility for tool inventory from pre-job preparation through completion.  Recommend procurement of and revisions to tools and equipment.
    Resolve administrative problems; discuss unusual situations or major problems with Project Engineer.  Monitor overtime and non-productive hours of Specialists and support employees and distribute assignments evenly between employees meeting skill qualifications.
    Support training and skill qualification of Specialists and support employees under competency team management program.
    Assist employees in proper completion of time and expense reports.  Collect time, and expense reports and verify job number and hours worked for employees assigned to shift.  Prepare weekly written reports.
    Communicate daily activities to lead engineer or customer and maintain written daily log.
    Assist lead engineer and Project Engineering Management in determining time, manpower, tooling and material requirement for pre-job planning and scheduling.
    Observe the work area and employee work habits and take all necessary actions to maintain productivity in a safe, clean, working atmosphere.
    Recognize changes in work scope and potential emergent work, rework or defects and communicate them to lead engineer or Project Engineer.
    Monitor and be accountable for control and security of tools and equipment.
    Complete job evaluations for each Specialist and each casual employee on the job and communicate to each employee.
    Monitor employee morale and performance, and if issues arise, contact Technician Resource Supervisor and/or management.
    Complete time and expenses as needed.

SCOPE, PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
    Dependant on assignment, potential daily contact with project engineers, product line management, and customer to exchange information on job scope, progress and receive direction.
    Occasional contacts with division headquarters to exchange information on field procedures, manpower utilization, technical issues and progress of work.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS:
    Provide technical, procedural, administrative guidance and direction to Specialists, casual employees and support personnel.
    Occasionally provide technical guidance or assistance to other casual employees, Specialist Supervisors or division personnel.

DIRECTION RECEIVED:
    Work under general supervision from established procedures and with direction from engineers and/or managers
    Exercise judgment in recommending changes to field procedures and training parameters.  May work as lead person on site with only limited direction from an engineer at another location with periodic visitation

What do I need to qualify for this job?

    High diploma in Mechanical Engineering or recognized equivalent plus two (2) years of trade and/or technical school or equivalent related work experience
    Demonstrated proficiency in all types of Siemens/Westinghouse CT equipment to meet Project Services qualification standards
    Minimum of five (5) years experience in turbine-machinery or rotating equipment and/or five to ten (5 to 10) years mechanical experience
    Experienced in trouble shooting, testing, overhaul and repair of different types of Generators. Knowledge of MS Project and Primavera is a plus
